Abbas Lisani’s arrested wife released

Baku. Ramil mammadli-APA. Rugeyye Alizade, wife of a prominent activist for the rights of Iranian Azeris Abbas Lisani, has been released from the custody, APA reports.

Iran’s secret police (Ettelaat) came to the house of Abbas Lisani at 01.00 am on April 11, with no arrest warrant, searched the house, arrested her and seized her computer.

She was released from the custody on the night of April 12.

In May 2006, police arrested Abbas Lisani following a protest demonstration and charged him with ‘holding rallies against the state system.’" Mr. Lisani was sentenced that September to eighteen months in prison.

An extraordinary trial added one year to his imprisonment on December 30, 207.
